UK HealthCare Albert B. Chandler Hospital serves Lexington and the surrounding areas of central and eastern Kentucky, capturing the care of much of the Commonwealth in this over 550-bed acute care hospital.

The clinical facilities at the University of Kentucky represent modern, attractive, state-of-the-art units all contiguously located on the University campus, including a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded clinical research center and a robust transplant center that includes heart, kidney, liver, and lung transplant programs.

For many of these patients, our internal medicine residents provide both primary and tertiary care. The University center serves as one of the main hubs of the academic medical center inpatient wards experience for our residents.

UK HealthCare Good Samaritan Hospital is located less than a mile from UK Chandler Hospital.

The clinical experience at Good Samaritan Hospital includes an over 170-bed acute care facility that allows our residents a broader experience in inpatient medicine and is conveniently connected to a 50,000 square-foot medical office building home to many subspecialty outpatient clinics.

By providing an opportunity to work in a hospitalist model in a medium-sized community hospital, residents can experience practicing medicine outside of the academic medical center.
