What We Do

Hospitalists are medical doctors who provide care to people admitted to the hospital. The University of Kentucky hospitalist group includes physicians who are experts in hospital care, advanced registered nurse practitioners (ARNP) and physician assistants (PA). We provide clinical care for patients who are admitted to our hospital medicine services, and provide medicine consultations for patients who may have other problems such as needing surgery.

We provide clinical care for you throughout your hospitalization including planning your hospital discharge. Communicating with your primary care physician is a priority for us. We work closely with nurses, pharmacists, medical and surgical specialists and social workers to deliver the best possible care while you are in the hospital and help you return home. We often work with residents and medical students. Besides clinical responsibilities, we strive to improve the quality of care in the hospital, optimize residents’ and medical student’s education and participate in research project to improve care delivery.
