Image Infectious Disease Research and Funded Projects Internal Medicine Research Infectious Disease Research Projects Ryan White Project Ryan White Project The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act began in 1990 as the first major effort to support and educate the growing number of HIV/AIDS patients in the U.S. The CARE Act is intended to help communities and states address unmet health needs of people living with HIV/AIDS by increasing the availability of primary care and support services. Goals of the CARE Act are to reduce more costly inpatient care, increase access to care for underserved populations, and to improve the quality of life of those living with HIV/AIDS. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, and HIV/AIDS Bureau. The Ryan White Project currently funds the Division of Infectious Diseases' Bluegrass Care Clinic for Parts B, C, and D programs, which serves central and eastern Kentucky.
