Categorical Residency (including Primary Care Program)

Our job is you — to help you become the doctor you envision. Whether that's a highly-skilled procedural subspecialist, a physician practicing primary care in a rural area, or a hospitalist leading institutional quality improvement initiatives, our residency program provides a path to your dream job. And if you aren’t quite sure what that is yet, that’s fine too. We’ll help you figure it out.

Med/Peds Residency Program

Established in 1983, we have a long history of providing excellent education in internal medicine and pediatrics. The goal of our four-year curriculum is to prepare residents for successful careers in any of the opportunities available with combined training: outpatient primary care, hospital medicine, subspecialty fellowship, academics, and/or research.

Medicine-Psychiatry

The University of Kentucky internal medicine/psychiatry program is a combined five-year program leading to certification in both specialties. Our residents will spend equal time in internal medicine and psychiatry. MedPsych-trained physicians recognize how each perspective allows them to provide better, comprehensive care to their patients and fill a much needed niche in our health care system.

Primary Care

UK’s Primary Care Program was launched in 1978 to better serve the needs of our Commonwealth, and offers specialized clinical, leadership, and advocacy training for residents interested in primary care careers.
