Lanla F. Conteh, MD, MPH, MBA has been selected to serve as the division chief for digestive diseases and nutrition in the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, effective Sept. 1. 

Dr. Conteh is currently a professor of internal medicine at The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Medicine. She serves as the health system medical director of endoscopy for Wexner Medical Center, and as the section chief of hepatology. 

As a gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist, Dr. Conteh has distinguished herself as a leader in clinical care, education, and academic hepatology. She is recognized nationally for her expertise in endoscopy, hepatology, and transplantation with a clinical focus on liver cancer. 

Dr. Conteh is a sought-after mentor for residents, fellows, and junior faculty members. She has been extensively involved in mentorship and professional development initiatives throughout her career and has served in various leadership roles at her previous institutions. Under her leadership at OSU, the endoscopy department has significantly expanded its volume, service line, and infrastructure. Among her many achievements, Dr. Conteh is a graduate of the prestigious Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Fellowship Program from Drexel University. 

Dr. Conteh earned her bachelor’s degree from Emory University before attending medical school at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She completed a Master of Public Health at Vanderbilt University, and a Master of Business Administration at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business.

Dr. Conteh completed residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at University Hospitals of Cleveland and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, after which she served as a chief resident. She completed fellowships in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at Vanderbilt University.
