Targeted, Specific Content for Third-Year Residents

UK's hospital medicine track is dedicated to providing targeted, specific content for third-year residents committed to the tenets of hospital medicine. Residents are selected via a competitive application process. Core faculty from the UK College of Medicine Division of Hospital Medicine, with support from the internal medicine residency program, provide intensive mentoring of participating residents and deliver a broad curriculum covering relevant hospital medicine topics.

Track highlights include:

  • Structured teaching on pertinent hospital medicine topics including quality improvement, billing, resource stewardship, consultation, co-management, and working with advanced practice providers (APPs)
  • Practicum elective focused on developing autonomy and efficiency while triaging and caring for complex medical patients
  • Mentorship from assigned experienced hospitalists and core hospital medicine track faculty
  • Intensive coaching and just-in-time learning as residents develop and manage their own group quality improvement project
