Biography
Dr. Hassan attended one of the most prestigious medical schools in Pakistan. In 2018, he was awarded a MBBS/MD degree from Dow University of Health Sciences. Subsequently, he trained at the University of Louisville as a post-doctoral fellow in both clinical and basic science research with respect to stem cell biology in the domain of molecular cardiology. He has extensive research experience with close to 70+ publications and 850+ citations. His scientific work is diverse, well renowned and has been utilized globally.
Currently, along with other faculty, he leads the clinical and translational research activities at the Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition, University of Kentucky. His key interest pertains to addressing the unmet clinical needs in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) with a focus on improving risk and therapeutic stratification, optimizing the use of current FDA approved therapies, harnessing the diagnostic and therapeutic utility of exosomes and assisting in novel drug development driven by pre-clinical, clinical and bench side research. Additionally, his other research interests pertains to the assessment of evolving epidemiological trends to identify and address social determinants of diseases with a view to alleviating incidence, mortality and improving clinical outcomes.
