The UK American Medical Association (AMA) Chapter was recently named the winner of the Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Community Service Competition hosted by Region 5 of the AMA Medical Student Section (MSS). Healthy Body, Healthy Mind was a region-wide community service campaign that targeted elementary school children living in urban and rural areas at highest risk of developing obesity and dropping out of school. The UK AMA Chapter earned the most service hours through their activities and partnership with Mary Todd Elementary School, where they spent time from October through January promoting education and healthy living. For this honor, the UK AMA Chapter will receive a plaque, spotlight on Region 5 social media outlets, and recognition during the Region 5 annual meeting at Oakland University in Rochester, MI.

MSS is dedicated to representing medical students, improving medical education, developing leadership, and promoting activism for the health of America. The AMA-MSS is the largest and most influential organization of medical students in the country.
