Q: What do you do clinically?
A: We are the only oncology specialty that does medical oncology (chemo) and surgical oncology (surgery).
Q: What is one thing you love about your clinical specialty?
A: We get the complex cases but also the continuity of care.
Q: What is one thing you love about being an ADD?
A: Seeing the excitement of students who are discovering love for Ob/Gyn for the first time.
Q: What is something you do outside of work to help you recharge?
A: Spend time with family, indoor rock climbing.
Q: Any advice for students who might be interested in your specialty?
A: Ob/Gyn has previously had a bad reputation for lifestyle but this certainly doesn't have to be the case anymore. It is a very versatile specialty and you can tailor your future practice to your interests and desired workload.
Q: How did you choose your specialty?
A: I loved surgery immediately, but it took awhile to figure out which type I wanted to do. Gynecologic Oncology gives me the continuity of care not found with many surgical specialties, while still allowing for challenging and complex cases.
