PARTICIPATE IN A RESEARCH SURVEY

Dear colleagues at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine,

We are a group of researchers at the Duke University School of Medicine, UNC School of Medicine, Perelman School of Medicine at Penn, and Stanford Medicine who are assessing intergenerational influences of careers in healthcare professions as a research study. All US physicians, residents, fellows, and medical students can fill out this research survey.

We are interested in learning about your connections to the medical profession. We would greatly appreciate your participation in this 5-minute survey.

Please access the survey HERE

At the end of the survey, you can choose to be entered into a drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card.

If you have questions or concerns about this study, please email the PI, Dr. Lola Fayanju, at Oluwadamilola.Fayanju@pennmedicine.upenn.edu, or Dr. Debra Bynum, at debra_bynum@med.unc.edu

Thank you for your time in advance. We appreciate your contribution to this work.

Research Workshop Series Fall 2021

The Medical Center Library will be continuing the Research Workshop Series this academic year. These informational sessions will introduce databases and resources like PubMed and Web of Science, Literature Searching, Systematic Reviews, SciFinder, and EndNote.  All classes will be held at Noon via Zoom.  Registration is suggested but not required.

You can register and read descriptions of the various workshops here: https://libguides.uky.edu/rws.

Changes to Interlibrary Loan

The Medical Center Library ILL began merging with the Main Campus ILL services on Aug. 11.  As a result of the merger, all Medical Center Library users who already have an MC ILLiad account, will need to create a new account in the new UK Libraries merged ILLiad system.  Please go to https://lib.uky.edu/ILLiad/ to login with your Link Blue and create your new account.  This is the account that you will use going forward with any new requests.  The new system allows you to login with your Link Blue credentials instead of having a separate username and password to manage.  Article delivery in the new system will continue as before and the Medical Center Library will remain a pick up location for books or other physical materials.

For MCL users who previously had an MCL ILLiad account, you will still be able to access your old account to view your request history and retrieve any articles that were previously requested on the old MC ILLiad system.  Access the old MC ILLiad system at the following address:  https://mcilliad.uky.edu; however, you will not be able to place new requests on the old system.  The history and previously requested articles will remain available until Friday, October 1, 2021.

For questions or concerns please contact the Medical Center Library ILL office at medill@uky.edu

Resources of Interest: LibKey Nomad and EndNote Click

LibKey Nomad and EndNote Click  both allow you to quick access PDFs both on and off campus. LibKey Nomad is active at the sites researchers visit, including publisher pages and PubMed. EndNote Click helps you access research paper PDFs in one click on Web of Science, Meta, PubMed, arXiv, Scopus, and EBSCO database (like CINAHL and PsychInfo).

Both resources allow you to save time by helping you navigate paywalls and library logins. You login in once and then have access to UK Libraries collections.

MEDICAL STUDENT WELL-BEING INDEX

The UK College of Medicine will be launching the Medical Student Well-Being Index on October 25th. This anonymous assessment tool is an opportunity to help medical students better understand their overall well-being and areas of risk compared to other medical students across the nation, as well as provide access to local and national resources.

Watch your email in the coming weeks for additional details about participating in the index.

  • Attend the EAST Annual Scientific Assembly where scientific papers are presented and advances in the field are discussed. Held annually in January, this conference is free to medical students
  • Participate in the EAST Mentoring Program, which provides extramural mentorship over a one-year period, with the hope of a long-term relationship being formed between mentors and mentees
