Physicians

Though we are a student-run clinic, we require and rely on the generosity of attendings and residents to make clinic nights possible. Physicians are asked to arrive at 6 p.m. and must sign in at the front desk. Physicians hear presentations from the medical students who have interviewed the patients beforehand, discuss the case, and return to the exam room with the student to see the patient and negotiate a treatment plan. They write prescriptions and suggest referrals as necessary. The attending must sign off on all charts, even those handled by a resident physician. Our goal is to provide a learning environment for the students while at the same time provide quality patient care for our uninsured patients. Physicians must be UK College of Medicine faculty or voluntary faculty to volunteer at SAC.
