After dedicating more than two years as interim chair of orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine, the University of Kentucky College of Medicine has officially named Jeffrey Selby, MD, chair of his department. The promotion took effect Oct. 1. Dr. Selby has been a devoted physician and educator since joining the University of Kentucky as a faculty member in 2002 after graduating from the UK College of Medicine’s orthopaedic surgery residency program. Dr. Selby possesses abundant knowledge in hip and knee replacement, orthopaedic trauma, and general orthopedic surgery, which has made him a key asset on our team as we focus on improving the health of Kentuckians while preparing future physicians to advance standards of care. His prior professional experience at the UK College of Medicine includes serving as vice chair of the department of orthopaedic surgery, medical director of orthopaedic trauma, medical director of joint replacement surgery, and chief of orthopaedic surgery at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Selby has been an integral part of dramatic growth of the department over the last twenty years and especially the last few years. His colleagues have given full support and faith in his leadership. The UK College of Medicine is incredibly grateful for the work Dr. Selby has put in to ensure excellence in the department. Dr. Selby will continue this culture of excellence as he transitions to this significant leadership role.
