If you've ordered Panera catering for a meeting before, chances are you had bags leftover from the delivery. Last fall, Kelsey Grecco, curriculum coordinator in the Office of Medical Education, devised a creative solution to reuse the bags and support a good cause.
She collected more than 300 bags from across the college to donate to Circle of Love, an annual UK initiative to help provide holiday gifts to children in need at Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS).
Each year, Circle of Love invites the UK community to sponsor a wish list of gifts for FCPS students and families for the holiday season. The recycled bags were used to transport the gifts to families.
Grecco is collecting bags again this fall, and you can help!
Panera has the most recognizable catering bag, but comparable bags from other restaurants are certainly acceptable.
To donate, please drop collected bags at the College of Medicine Admissions Office (MN 118) or at the Dean’s Office (MN 150). Bags will be collected until Nov. 14.
