Salary

Life Insurance: One times stipend coverage at no cost.
Disability Insurance: After 12 months of employment.

Education Fund
The Department provides residents with an annual education fund via payroll as outlined below:
PGY 2 $500
PGY 3 $500
PGY 4 $500 + Up to $1,500 (board prep)
PGY 5 $500
CHIEF RESIDENT stipend + $1,900
AIRP Registration and Stipend
The department provides residents the opportunity to attend the American Institute for Radiologic Pathology 4-Week Radiologic-Pathologic Correlation Course during their third year of training. Registration is paid by the department. Residents receive a $2,500 stipend toward travel/lodging expenses, if applicable.
Vacation and Professional Leave Benefits*
First Year (PGY 1): 10 days
Second Year & Above (PGY 2 - 5): 15 days
Nine official university holidays and four holiday bonus days
The department of radiology provides the following professional leave benefits:
• Board review course (up to 6 days)
• Interview days (up to 5 days during course of residency)
• Paper/poster presentation at national meeting (up to $2,000 per year of training)
• Professional society meeting (RSNA or ARRS), during senior year (5 days)
*In accordance with University policy and/or in compliance with board requirements
Kentucky Medical Licensure
Original cost for residency training (R) or institutional practice (IP) license plus yearly renewal.
Professional Memberships
The following professional societies provide complimentary membership to residents-in-training. The program coordinator is happy to assist you with your applications.
• American College of Radiology
• American Roentgen Ray Society
• Radiological Society of North America
• plus several other subspecialty societies.
The following professional society membership dues are paid by the department:
• American Alliance of Academic Chief Residents in Radiology (A3CR2) - (Chief and Assistant Chief Residents)
Parking
Residents are provided with a parking allowance to cover expense of an E-permit.
Lab Coats / Scrubs
Residents are provided up to three lab coats and/or scrubs per year. Embroidery and dry cleaning services for lab coats are paid by the department.
Personal Lead Aprons and Glasses
Radiology residents are provided with custom-fit, personalized, lead aprons/thyroid collars and lead glasses upon entrance to the program.
Library
Residents have access to a completely renovated Department of Radiology Residents’ Library well as the University’s Medical Center Library. The Residents’ Library is furnished with multiple computers, personal lockers as well as comfortable and quiet reading/study areas. Residents may also check-out an expansive array of digital teaching media and are provided access to STATdx. Second and third year radiology residents also receive subscriptions to RADPrimer.
Fitness
