The First Year
The first-year’s responsibilities include:
- Morning rounds
- Daily floor management of floor patients
- Gynecology oncology consults, transfers, and daily admissions
- Pre-operative inpatient work-up
- Management of inpatient chemotherapy admissions
- Post-operative care of surgical patients
- Afternoon rounds
The Second Year
The second year’s responsibilities include:
- See, Night Float (2nd year)
The Third Year
The third-year’s responsibilities include:
- Morning rounds
- Minor surgical procedures
- Major surgical procedures
- Management of post-operative patients
- Assisting the first-year resident with management of floor patients when available
- Assisting the first-year resident with consults, transfers, and daily admissions when appropriate
- Afternoon rounds
Chief Year
The chief’s responsibilities include:
- Morning rounds
- Minor surgical procedures
- Major surgical procedures
- Management of post-operative surgical patients
- Afternoon rounds

Each year, residents experience five-week rotations through various services. As the resident progresses through the residency, the resident will have more independence and responsibility leading up to the fourth year, chief resident.
