The First Year
The first year’s responsibilities include:
- Morning rounds on all post-operative patients
- Primary or assistant surgeon on all cesarean deliveries
- Primary or assistant surgeon on all postpartum sterilization procedures
- One grand rounds presentation per rotation
* The first-year resident works with shared weekend call at the University of Kentucky.
The Second Year
The second-year’s responsibilities include:
- Morning rounds on all post-operative patients
- One half-day in the REI clinic at Baptist Health
- Primary or assistant surgeon on all minor gynecological surgical procedures performed in the outpatient surgery center with emphasis on infertility surgeries
- Primary or assistant surgeon on all major gynecological surgical procedures
- One grand rounds presentation per rotation
The Third Year
The third-year's responsibilities include:
- Morning rounds on all oncology patients
- One day per week in the gynecology oncology clinic at Baptist Health
- Primary or assistant surgeon on all major gynecological surgical procedures with emphasis on gynecology oncology and pelvic reconstructive surgery
- Primary or assistant surgeon on all minor gynecological surgical procedures when available
- One grand rounds presentation per rotation

Each year, residents experience five-week rotations through various services. As the resident progresses through the residency, the resident will have more independence and responsibility leading up to the fourth year, chief resident.
