Why did you choose the University of Kentucky?
I chose UK because I was seeking a university program that will give me exposure to a wide variety of cases (from your bread and butter Peds to really weird cases) and subspecialties. I liked that UK/KCH had a wide cachement area, so you get patients from near and far. I also couples matched with my partner, and it was also important to have a program that would allow that, and UK does (there’s a lot of us who couples matched).
What do you like about your program?
The attendings, co-residents and staff in general are very supportive of your goals. I like the wide availability of electives because you really had the opportunity to tailor your experience to what you’re interested in as a career beyond residency. And in general, the people you work with do become family and when unexpected things come up you can lean on them.
What are your hobbies?
I love to try new recipes to cook/bake and love to try out new restaurants. I love reality TV and finding a new show on Netflix. My partner and I try to hike when schedules allow. We have a 1 year old German Shepherd puppy who also loves to be outdoors, so we spend lots of time on walks and in the parks. I’m trying to get back into reading and cross-stitching.
