Interview Day

About the Interview

Physicians applying for a fellowship in neonatology have a very busy schedule as they are balancing residency workload and interviews at multiple institutions. We recognize that applicants are interviewing us, just as much as we are interviewing them. As such, we at Kentucky Children’s Hospital strive to make your time here in Lexington as beneficial as possible so that you can make the most informed decision about where you wish to continue your education.

We extend all applicants an invitation to dinner the night prior to the interview day. This is an informal event where applicants can dine with our current fellows at a local restaurant to learn about the city of Lexington, life as a fellow, and address any other questions that might arise. Dinner is not a requirement, but we have found that many of our applicants enjoy this opportunity.

All our applicants are provided overnight accommodations the night prior to their interview. The  next morning the applicant will arrive at the medical center, being greeted by the Program Coordinator, to begin their interview day.

Throughout the day applicants will attend conferences, meet with clinical and research faculty, as well as tour the facilities at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Lunch with the fellows occurs mid-day and is provided by the division. The interview day concludes between 3:30 and 4:00 pm, at which time Goldshield Transportation will provide transportation back to the hotel or to the airport if desired. If any additional questions arise at a later date, we encourage applicants to email us with their questions.

Further information can be found at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Office of Graduate Medical Education, including information about stipends and benefits. We hope that applicants will strongly consider continuing their training with us at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
