All applications should be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Your ERAS Application should include:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Personal Statement
  • Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE) - Previously referred to as the Dean’s Letter
  • Medical School Transcript
  • At least three Letters of Recommendation from faculty who are well acquainted with you
  • USMLE or COMLEX step I and II scores
    • Step I scores are needed prior to your application
    • Step II CK and CS scores are needed prior to the end of the application and interview process

International Medical Graduates

Graduates of Schools outside of the United States or Canada must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduation from Medical School within the past four years
  • A minimum of two months of clinical experience with direct patient care, and evaluations from those rotations
  • A valid ECFMG certification
  • USMLE step I and II scores at or above the 85th percentile
  • US Citizenship, permanent immigrant Visa (green card) or J-1 Visa (House staff are sponsored on H-1B visas only in rare cases)

Interviews and Match

Interviews will be scheduled on Tuesdays or Fridays between mid-October and the end of December. During the interview days applicants will have the opportunity to meet with our residents and faculty, tour the facility and learn more about the residency program here at UK. Applicants will be matched through the National Residents Matching Program (NRMP).
