Why did you choose the University of Kentucky?

I chose the University of Kentucky because of its location and the supportive nature of the residency program. Located in a medium-sized city, it provides the convenience and opportunities of urban life while maintaining close proximity to an abundance of outdoor activities. Most importantly, I was drawn to the university's supportive faculty, who are known for being approachable, encouraging, and dedicated to helping residents succeed both academically and professionally.

What do you like about your program?

The UK Ophthalmology program has felt like a second family to me from the beginning. There is a strong sense of community among the faculty, residents, and staff, which was evident to me even as a medical student. My co-residents are friendly, approachable, and always willing to help one another, making collaboration both enjoyable and rewarding. I also value the program's commitment to global ophthalmology, which offers meaningful opportunities to serve diverse communities and broaden my perspective on eye care worldwide. Furthermore, our program provides residents with the tools and knowledge early in training to begin performing procedures and participating in the operating room, which helps build confidence as a surgeon.

What are your hobbies?

Some of my hobbies and interests include hiking, watching sports (mostly soccer), watching movies and TV shows, playing pickleball, cooking, and gardening.
