Fayette County Schools Mobile Eye Van

Since 2019, this program has delivered full eye exams during school hours at schools across Fayette County, sparing families a missed workday and, in partnership with the UK Ophthalmology optical shop, providing eyeglasses to children who need them. The program runs in a fully equipped medical van with an eye exam lane, which travels to different schools every month. Exams are conducted by the department’s pediatric optometrists and ophthalmologists, Dr. Karen McCloud, Dr. Sean Wadley, Dr. Ellen Van Norman, and Dr. Julia Stevens. Its operations are coordinated by Beth Yost, department administrator and long-term collaborator with UK GO projects.
