Medical Student Education
OUR MISSION
The mission of UK Ophthalmology is to support the growth of medical students by providing clinical and surgical exposure while working alongside various subspecialties. Within this program, we offer a wide variety of hands-on learning, involvement in residency didactics, and research opportunities.
As a medical student at the University of Kentucky, I appreciated the excellent training opportunities that the program offers. We see a broad spectrum of pathology from across the commonwealth and have ample opportunities to improve our surgical and clinical acumen.

Information for Minority Students
Any student that self-identifies as underrepresented in medicine is eligible for a $1,000 scholarship to help offset some of the cost of travel and lodging. For the purposes of this scholarship, underrepresented is based on self-identified race and/or ethnicity, gender and sexuality, socioeconomic status, or any other personal characteristic that places a student at a historical and/or current disadvantage compared to their peers. If you are accepted for a rotation and interested in voluntarily providing your information and receiving this scholarship, please send a message to the medical student email, OphthMedStudents@uky.edu and medical program director, Lucy Franklin, MD (lucy.franklin@uky.edu)
