Our Global Ophthalmology program partners with the Department of Ophthalmology at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet, Kenya, to foster long-term academic collaboration and global health training.

Through this partnership, residents in the University of Kentucky Global Ophthalmology (UK GO) track participate in structured educational rotations at Tenwek, where they gain hands-on experience in delivering high-volume, high-impact eye care in a resource-variable setting. These rotations emphasize clinical excellence, cultural humility, health systems awareness, and ethical global engagement.

In addition to resident education, we collaborate with Tenwek faculty on clinical ophthalmology research projects, supporting locally driven research questions and strengthening academic capacity.
