Biography

Dr. Tanesha Johnson is a post doctoral scholar at the University of Kentucky/Kentucky’s Children’s Hospital. Dr. Johnson received her PhD from Saint Louis University in May 2023. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Florida’s Health Sciences Center on the child/pediatric track. Clinically, Dr. Johnson has worked with children, teens and their families doing psychoeducational assessments for ASD, ADHD, and other psychological concerns, interventions in the school, outpatient, and inpatient settings, parent management training, and interventions for chronic pain. Currently, she provides clinical care to children and families who are adjusting to an injury or illness, with a special interest in children, teens, and young adults with Sickle Cell Disease.

Dr. Johnson embraces and embodies the scientist-practitioner model, as such she is committed to conducting applied research as well as completing clinical work. She has an extensive background in conducting research in various fields, including public health, mental health, and psychology. More specifically, Dr. Johnson is interested in understanding and examining the impact that socioeconomic status has on various factors including, racial discrimination, mental health outcomes, and more recently medical trauma. Additionally, she is interested in creating and implementing quality improvement projects within the hospital system, especially for departments that are under resourced. She is very excited about working and researching at the University of Kentucky’s College of Medicine.
