Faculty Mentorships

Trainees and scholars work closely with dedicated faculty mentors who provide hands-on guidance, interdisciplinary training, and access to state-of-the-art resources. This supportive environment fosters discovery, professional growth, and the development of future leaders in aging research. While mentorship is central across all programs, each training pathway structures the mentoring experience differently to align with the career stage and goals of its participants.

KYAD-PREP

Postbaccalaureate scholars new to academic and research environments have the opportunity to explore different laboratories based on their interests. This process is facilitated informally through coordination with the Kentucky Alzheimer’s Disease (KYAD-PREP) program administrator.

TRIAD T32

For predoctoral and postdoctoral scholars in the T32 Training in Translational Research in Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias (TRIAD) program, mentorship is a core component of training. Mentor–trainee pairings are established through a formal, permission-based process.

REC Scholar

Faculty participating in the Research Education Component (REC) Scholar training program receive mentored support through a customized career development plan. This mentorship occurs within a collaborative, committee-based structure that emphasizes career planning, research design, and professional networking.
