Biography and Education
Biography
Dr. Brad Hubbard is an Assistant Professor in the Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center and Department of Physiology at the University of Kentucky. He is also a Research Physiologist in the Lexington VA Healthcare System. Dr. Hubbard received a B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Currently, his research is focused on examining neurovascular and mitochondrial dysfunction after blast-induced traumatic brain injury. His lab is supported through VA, DoD, NIH and KSCHIRT funding.

Research
Our lab primarily focuses on developing or re-purposing therapies to treat neurovascular and mitochondrial dysfunction after injury. Our lab is also interested in mechanisms of blast-induced post-traumatic epilepsy. To accomplish this goal, we utilize robust techniques to assess cellular metabolism and capillary function in rodent models (rats/mice) of injury, which are paired with behavioral and neuroimaging outcomes.
