Support This Important Cause

Alzheimer's disease wreaks emotional havoc on patients, who are robbed of their memories, their dignity, and their lives. Almost 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, which likely means that all of us know someone whose lives have been touched - directly or indirectly - by dementia. And since that number is expected to rise to nearly 14 million by 2050, Alzheimer's will likely hit closer to home for many of us.

Thankfully, there is a center here at the University of Kentucky that has made it their mission to improve the lives of those living with Alzheimer’s or other age-related dementias. The clinicians and researchers at the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging (SBCoA) work together to unravel the mysteries of age-related brain diseases and provide education, outreach, and clinical programs that promote healthy brain aging.

We are the envy of Alzheimer's research centers around the country for our leadership in the fight against Alzheimer's, but to reach our ultimate goal to find a cure, we need your help. Philanthropy is essential to continue the groundbreaking work of the SBCoA that will make today’s dreams tomorrow’s reality.

We have set a goal of $15 million to advance our clinical operations and facilities, expand resources for outreach and education, and recruit and retain the most talented faculty and staff in the field.

The UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging is a jewel in Kentucky's backyard. We have been a world leader in some of science's most important discoveries about Alzheimer's, and we intend to have our fingerprints on the cure as well. With your help, we can - and will - do more.

Clinical Operations and Facilities

Philanthropy helped build the first facilities for Sanders-Brown more than 40 years ago. Today, we need new clinical space to support patient care and work with volunteers for clinical trials.

Education

There is a nationwide shortage of providers with special expertise in aging and dementia care. We rely on fellowships to train the next generation of clinicians and maximize our ability to care for our patients and their families.

Faculty Recruitment & Retention

Sanders-Brown faculty has been involved in some of the discipline’s most important scientific discoveries – which means that other centers around the world are eager to recruit them away from us. Philanthropy helps us retain our current faculty and provide much-needed startup funding for rising stars.
