The Elsa U. Pardee Foundation awarded research funding of over $150,000 to Mautin Barry-Hundeyin, MD, in early December to support her research into a potential immunological treatment for patients with pancreatic cancer.

Dr. Barry-Hundeyin, an assistant professor in the division of surgical oncology, is also a research scientist with the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her primary area of study is in pancreatic cancer tumor immunology for which she has been published extensively in several peer-reviewed medical journals.

The Elsa U. Pardee Foundation, a family-run organization devoted to cancer research, is noted for its grants supporting innovations in cancer treatment that show promise. The foundation’s medical committee evaluates approximately 300 proposals annually.

It is in that capacity that the foundation approved $150,248 funding for Dr. Barry Hundeyin’s project, ICOSL Reverse Signaling Orchestrates Macrophage Programming in Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma

In addition to research funding, the Pardee Foundation also provides financial assistance to help defray treatment costs to cancer patients and their families.
