Thoracic Surgery Residency Program

The thoracic surgery integrated six-year residency program is designed to provide aspiring medical school graduates with the education and skills training necessary to become competent professional thoracic surgeons.  

During the first three years of the program, residents experience rotations in general surgery, endoscopy, trauma, cardiology, and cardiac imaging, among other related fields. These specific rotations prepare residents for the last three years which provides in-depth hands-on operative experiences in adult thoracic surgery, and transplantation.

The final three years, residents will gradually move toward competence and surgical autonomy in Thoracic surgical procedures. By the conclusion of their sixth year, they will be well prepared for board certification and enabled to meet the specific needs of their patients.
