Hand Surgery Fellowship
The University of Kentucky Hand Surgery Fellowship is a one-year, ACGME-accredited program jointly sponsored by the departments of plastic and reconstructive surgery and orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. The fellowship accepts one qualified applicant per year.
This collaborative program offers a comprehensive and well-balanced training experience, with the fellow dividing their time equally between both surgical disciplines. Training takes place across several clinical sites, including UK HealthCare hospitals and the Hand Clinic at Turfland, Shriners Hospital for Children, the Lexington Surgery Center, and the Lexington VA Hospital. The fellowship is designed to deliver a rigorous didactic and clinical education that thoroughly prepares graduates for board certification in hand surgery. All qualified applicants will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
Mission
The mission of the University of Kentucky Hand Surgery Fellowship is to optimally prepare surgeons-in-training to render contemporary, compassionate and fiscally-responsible care for all pathological conditions afflicting the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder, while inspiring the fellow to give back to the specialty through engagement in scientific inquiry and practice as a lifelong learner and teacher.
