We are pleased to announce a new research opportunity at UK Center of Excellence in Rural Health. Dr. Patrick Kitzman with the University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences is conducting a pilot study on Stroke Navigators. The study is to help us learn if using a Stroke Navigator, for individuals living with a stroke, will improve their quality of life and decrease the number of times they have to seek medical help.  The University of Kentucky is partnering with Kentucky Appalachian Rural Rehabilitation Network, Cardinal Hill, and Appalachian Regional Healthcare to seek individuals who have had a stroke and are being discharged home to a rural community. The Stroke Navigator will then access resources in the individuals’ communities, link them with their healthcare providers, and access education materials about living with a stroke, and will follow them for one year.
