RISE Resilience in an Opioid Stricken Environment
About RISE
The level of awareness and availability of opioid use disorder treatment has increased over the past decade. However, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Kentucky ranks among the highest in annual deaths by individuals suffering from a substance use disorder (SUD). Despite the increase in the availability of individual SUD treatment services, there is a glaring gap in services targeted and designed to help the families of individuals suffering from SUD, and specifically, individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD).

RISE utilizes a didactic approach, specializing in family support, youth resiliency, and family advocacy. Utilizing a Peer Support Specialist and Community Health Worker certificate training program, the curriculum and apprenticeships focus on the treatment of families with individuals diagnosed with OUD/SUD. Apprentices will apply their knowledge and experience to provide families with education and support to navigate available services, both for the individual with OUD and those services available for the families of individuals suffering from OUD.
The UK CERH is a Registered Apprenticeship placement site for both Peer Support Specialists and Community Health Workers.

Locations
RISE is available to eligible applicants who live or work in Bath, Breathitt, Estill, Floyd, Johnson, Knott, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Perry, and Pike Counties.
