Rural Appalachian communities in eastern Kentucky suffer from some of the Nation’s most concerning health disparities.  Community-based research can be an effective way to address health disparities by identifying problems and sharing workable solutions.

The second annual Appalachian Research Day will be held at the UK Center of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH), in Hazard, KY on May 18, 2016, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.  The event is free and offers an opportunity for local research participants and members of the community to hear directly from researchers whose work focuses on improving health outcomes.  This year’s presentations will focus on healthy lifestyles, depression, lung cancer screening, drug use and health-related risk behaviors.  There will also be research poster presentations during lunch on a variety of health topics.
