Kentucky EMS Leadership Academy
The Kentucky EMS Leadership Academy provides professional development opportunities for EMS professionals throughout the Commonwealth. With programs designed for all levels of experience, participants can build practical leadership skills, strengthen their organizations, and prepare for new responsibilities throughout their careers.
Whether you're exploring leadership for the first time, supervising crews, training new employees, or leading an EMS agency, the Academy offers training focused on the real-world challenges facing today's EMS workforce.
The Kentucky EMS Leadership Academy includes four leadership development tracks:
- Step into Leadership
- Executive Leadership Track
- Supervisor Leadership Track
- Field Training Officer (FTO) Track
Each track is designed to meet participants where they are and provide tools, knowledge, and connections they can apply within their agencies and communities.

Step into Leadership
Step into Leadership is a four-hour introductory program designed for EMS professionals who want to develop their leadership potential and better understand what it means to lead in today's EMS environment. Through engaging discussion and practical examples, participants will explore core leadership concepts, personal development strategies, and the skills needed to influence positive change within their organizations and communities.
Whether you're considering the Kentucky EMS Leadership Academy or simply looking to grow professionally, Step into Leadership offers practical tools to help you take the next step. Participants will also gain an introduction to the Academy and its leadership development opportunities.

Executive Leadership Track
The Executive Leadership Track is the Kentucky EMS Leadership Academy's flagship program. This multi-month experience is designed for current and emerging EMS leaders who want to strengthen their leadership skills and expand their understanding of the issues facing the EMS profession.
Participants take part in webinars, in-person sessions, and networking opportunities while exploring topics such as leadership development, workforce retention, communication, organizational culture, finance, compliance, and strategic planning. Executive Leadership Track
The Executive Leadership Track is the Kentucky EMS Leadership Academy's flagship program. This multi-month experience is designed for current and emerging EMS leaders who want to strengthen their leadership skills and expand their understanding of the issues facing the EMS profession.

Supervisor Leadership Track
The Supervisor Leadership Track is designed for EMS professionals who currently serve in a supervisory role or are preparing to move into one.
This focused leadership program addresses the day-to-day responsibilities of supervising EMS personnel, including communication, accountability, conflict management, employee engagement, coaching, delegation, and team development. Participants leave with practical tools they can apply immediately to manage operations, support their employees, and build stronger teams. Supervisor Leadership Track
The Supervisor Leadership Track is designed for EMS professionals who currently serve in a supervisory role or are preparing to move into one.
