In mid-October, Dr. Kant Y.K. Lin journeyed to the Henan province of China to share clinical information with colleagues in Plastic Surgery and discuss the process of board certification in the United States.

Dr. Lin, division chief of plastic surgery at the University of Kentucky, has a passion for outreach in surgical education and has been a guest lecturer and educator to China several times in the past. Colleagues from the Medical Aesthetic Center at First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University invited Dr. Lin to give talks on Monday, October 14, and on Tuesday afternoon, October 15.

The first was an update on The American Board of Plastic Surgery’s certification process.

The next day, Dr. Lin followed up with two clinical presentations on craniofacial surgery. In addition to his plastic surgery experience, Dr. Lin is an accomplished adult and pediatric craniofacial and maxillofacial specialist. 

The first clinical presentation was “Computer modeling of the palate: Implications for cleft palatoplasty.” He concluded with “Essentials of unilateral cleft lip repair.”
