Team Surgery Shenanigans at the University of Kentucky will once again take the Polar Plunge this February in support of Special Olympics Kentucky.

Pete Rogers, team captain of Surgery Shenanigans, is recruiting members throughout the UK surgery departments and divisions to join him for the annual fund raiser. It will be Pete’s fourth year of participation in the event, his third plunge, the second for Team Surgery Shenanigans, and the first to feature more than one “plunger.”

Together, Team Surgery Shenanigans are sure to make a big splash! And help out a very worthy cause in the bargain.

TO PARTICIPATE OR DONATE: Contact Pete Rogers at peter.rogers@uky.edu or call 859-218-4951.

The Polar Plunge is one of the largest and most popular fund raisers for Special Olympics Kentucky.

“Special Olympics is the world’s largest program of sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Participation is open to all individuals eight years of age or older. Training and competition in local, area, state, and national programs is offered year-round in 15 sports in Kentucky.

Participation in Special Olympics helps athletes improve physical fitness and increase confidence and self-esteem. Through Special Olympics athletes learn valuable skills that they carry with them off the playing field and into their schools, jobs and communities.”

The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 18 at the Texas Roadhouse restaurant on Richmond Road in Lexington.
