Sibu Saha, MD, division of cardiothoracic surgery, and Jennifer Castle, MD, a PGY-4 general surgery resident, were among those given special recognition at the 19th annual Spring Conference of the UK Center for Clinical and Translational Science.

Dr. Saha was among the UK faculty to receive a CCTS Mentor Recognition Award. UK students submit nominations of UK faculty to the CCTS for Mentor Award recognition to express their appreciation for the guidance they received in clinical research studies.

Justin Hudnall and Omkar More, second-year medical students, nominated Dr. Saha for the mentor award. Under his leadership, they each conducted retrospective studies of outcomes related to cardiothoracic surgery.

Dr. Castle was recognized for completing her doctorate in Clinical and Translational Science in 2023. Dr. Castle is one of many residents in general surgery who opt to take time away from their clinical training to focus on research interests.
