Lesley Wong, MD, professor and program director of the integrated plastic surgery residency program, joined a distinguished group of faculty as recipient of the Richard W. Schwartz Leadership in Education Award at the annual UK College of Medicine Department of Surgery teaching awards recognition program.
The Schwartz Award is considered the department of surgery’s lifetime achievement for teaching. It has not been awarded since 2019 when it was presented to former department chair, Dr. Joseph Zwischenberger.
In addition to a long career as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in breast reconstruction, Dr. Wong has served as program director of the integrated plastic surgery residency program since 2019. She has been recognized by residents and peers for her dedication and role as mentor to medical students and residents.
