CT Surgery welcomes new thoracic surgeon to its faculty
The UK Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery is pleased to welcome thoracic surgeon Dr. Jordan Miller as the newest member of its faculty. He began his clinical and academic work in February 2017.
“Dr. Miller is a bright young man with energy, ideas, and advanced surgical skill,” said Dr. Sibu Saha, division chief of UK CT Surgery. “In addition to his thoracic fellowship, he also completed a minimally invasive thoracic surgery fellowship with Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Please join me and welcome Jordan to our family at UK HealthCare.”
Aside from his fellowship work in Massachusetts, Dr. Miller spent the bulk of his medical training in his home state of Pennsylvania. He completed his general surgery residency at Memorial Hospital in York, his hometown, and earned his medical degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.
While he enjoys all aspects of Thoracic surgery, Miller said that he has a research interest in lung and esophageal cancers as well as benign esophageal disorders. He has lectured on esophageal cancer staging and treatment at the annual clinical assembly of the American College of Osteopathic Surgery. As a result of his specific interests, his clinical practice will include working with colleagues and providing care at the Markey Cancer Center.
Dr. Miller is also looking forward to collaborations with CT Surgery residents and fellows.
“The relationships I had with my mentors during residency was the reason I decided to pursue Thoracic surgery. Surgery is a difficult discipline and it is extremely important to continue to pass along surgical and clinical skills to the next generations of surgeons through mentorship. I also look forward to working with the students, residents and fellows and learning from them as well. ” Dr. Miller said.
Since accepting the appointment at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Miller and his wife, Mara, have settled in Lexington with their dog Ryleigh. Outside of surgery, the Millers enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities like running, cycling, and hiking.
