Preparing for their last weeks as residents and fellows, the 2024 Department of Surgery class shared their post-graduate plans. The majority of residents have matched into leading advanced surgery fellowships. Of those choosing to enter private practice, two have opted to stay and serve patients in the Lexington, Kentucky area.

This class of residents began their training just a few months before the start of the COVID pandemic. They had to adapt quickly to the unique challenges of patient care delivery under circumstances previous classes had not faced. That they have succeeded so well is an indication of their quality as learners and servant leaders in field of surgical care.

The Department of Surgery extends its congratulations to the class of 2024 and extends its best wishes for their continuing success.
