Entering the last month of their Chief year, the Department of Surgery’s 2016 class of residents and fellows shared their plans to continue their training or get into the professional ranks.

General Surgery

Michael Bounds, MD
Dr. Bounds will pursue a Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Kentucky.

Tessa Cartwright, MD
Dr. Cartwright will pursue a Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Kentucky.

John Hance, MD
Dr. Hance will pursue a Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati.

Sarah Kimball, MD
Dr. Kimball will pursue a Breast Fellowship at Beth Israel, Harvard in Boston, MA.

Meir Meerkov, MD
Dr. Meerkov will pursue a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at MetroHealth, Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH.

Cardiothoracic Surgery

Marion Hochstetler, MD
Dr. Hochstetler will resume his surgical practice as a member of the medical staff at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.

Plastic Surgery

Ashley Kerekes, MD
Dr. Kerekes will be starting a new plastic surgery service line at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. The focus will be on starting a breast reconstruction program.

Minimally Invasive Surgery
Crystal Totten, MD
Dr. Totten will begin a private practice in Springfield, OH.
Trauma and Critical Care Surgery

Cherry Song, MD
Dr. Song has accepted a position at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY.

Vascular Surgery
Noah Scherrer, MD
Dr. Scherrer has accepted a position with Surgical Care Associates in Louisville, KY.
