2025 Marks the 40th Anniversary of the UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging Alzheimer's Disease Research Center

Forty years ago, the National Institute on Aging launched its ADRC grants program, and Sanders-Brown was among the prestigious first class of just 10 awardees. CALL FOR DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS APPLICATIONS

The UK-Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) is pleased to announce the Request for Applications for the UK-ADRC Developmental Project program.  This pilot project program, supported by the UK-ADRC, is aimed primarily at junior investigators (postdocs, assistant professors, senior research associates/scientists, clinical fellows), although we will also consider senior faculty who wish to move their research into dementia.  We will fund one developmental project for a one-year project duration, supported at $50,000.  Applications are due March 16, 2025 with funding to start July 1, 2025.

Drug studied at UK is first disease-modifying therapy in U.S. approved to treat Alzheimer’s

In 2023, the FDA fully approved Leqembi (lecanemab) for Alzheimer’s treatment. UK’s Sanders-Brown Center on Aging has studied this and similar drugs for over a decade.

NIH funding to the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging increased from $13.3 million to $23.4 million in one year, a remarkable 75% increase in funding.
