The University of Kentucky General Surgery Residency program is exceptional for a plethora of reasons. One reason being the faculty here at UK. The attendings at UK not only practice outstanding surgical care, but they provide thorough mentorship in and out of the workplace. In addition, the patient population in the Commonwealth is one of the sickest in the nation. Therefore, as surgical residents, we are trained to surgically and medically care for high acuity and medically complex patients. Finally, this residency program provides adequate exposure to the specialties of general surgery. This program has a diverse graduate profile with graduates transitioning directly into practice or propelling into fellowship.
