Why did you choose the University of Kentucky?

I chose the University of Kentucky for a handful of reasons. First and foremost was proximity to family. After spending 5 years far from home, it was nice to have the opportunity to return closer to home for a few years. It was also apparent that there is a tried-and-true history with UK Family and Community Medicine of producing well-rounded, competent physicians for over 50 years. I am also planning to pursue a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine, and where better is there to train than a top-tier NCAA Division 1 college with access to some of the best there are in Sports, from the athletes to the elite team of physicians that care for them. I am excited to complete my medical training at the University of Kentucky and look forward to how we can grow together.

What do you like about your program?

When I was looking for programs to apply to, I made it a priority of mine to find programs that embody what it means to be a family. It was quickly made apparent that the residents and faculty cared for, and prioritized, each other’s best interests. Whatever walk of life you came from, there is a place for you with the UK Family Medicine residency. I also prioritized surrounding myself with coresidents and faculty that would be there to ask questions and learn from. This program was designed to build you up, not only as a clinician, but as a person in general, through growth and opportunities only available at a place like the University of Kentucky.

What are your hobbies?

Honestly, I’m up for just about anything! I enjoy everything from hanging out with friends, concerts, sports, food, or checking out the local brewery, to camping, running, swimming, and all the outdoor activities! I’ve found that UK and Lexington are great places for all of those. The list of restaurants to try is endless, there are tons of surrounding outdoor areas and parks, and obviously you can’t beat going to cheer on the Wildcats! My fiancée and I are tackling residency together (Family/Pediatrics) and we are both very happy with what Lexington has to offer! I’ve been surprised since I arrived, and I look forward to exploring all the different opportunities!
