Primary Care Internal and Family Medicine

During GME orientation, interns are encouraged to establish primary care via the internal medicine department. We encourage all our trainees to set up appointments with primary care doctor with in the first year itself. If needing to establish later in residency both the Internal Medicine and Family Medicine departments offer appointments.

UK Team Blue Primary Care Clinic for UK Health Plans

The Team Blue Primary Care Clinic is a primary care option exclusively for members of the UK health plans. Team Blue provides diagnosis, treatment and management of patients of all ages with one of the UK health plans (UK-HMO, UK-PPO, UK-EPO and UK-RHP).For more information go here.

LiveHealth Online

Members of UK health plans can participate in a new service called LiveHealth Online. Connect with a medical professional through the Internet for advice regarding minor primary-care conditions, such as the flu, colds, pink eye and more. They can also send prescriptions to your pharmacy. Urgent Care

The UK Health Plan Urgent Care Clinic is an on-site clinic for UK employees and their dependents over age 18 who participate in one of the UK health plans. UK Health Plans Urgent Care Clinic is here to see you for your acute non-emergent medical needs. They are located on the first floor of University Health Service, directly across from the pharmacy. The hours are Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 4:30pm. All visits are same-day availability by appointment only. UK Urgent Care Clinics at Turfland and Fountain Court are another choice for urgent care. This service is provided daily from 8:00am - 7:30pm. Further details can be found here: https://ukhealthcare.uky.edu/services/urgent-care

Health Care for Children

The UK Family Medicine Clinic is available for pediatric patient scheduling. The University of Kentucky also has a very robust pediatrics department, with clinics in multiple locations. For residents who are looking for establishing a Pediatrician for their kids, here are some options:

  2. Med-Peds Residency Continuity Clinic
  3. UK Team Blue, KY Clinic South
  4. UK HMO Clinic at Maxwell
  5. UK General Pediatric Clinic, Harrodsburg Road, KY Clinic South

For after hours care, the UK Pediatric Twilight Clinic is available. Any child can seek urgent care provided by rotating UK Pediatricians regardless if they have a UK Pediatrician as their PCP. The clinic is open M-F from 5p-9p and Sat-Sun 12p-5p. Please call ahead to ensure you have an appointment.

Please NOTE: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kentucky Children’s Hospital is making changes to our Twilight Children’s Clinic hours for the protection of our patients, their families and our staff. We remain committed to ensuring that our patients’ healthcare needs are met while working to keep everyone safe. Beginning Monday, April 6, the Twilight Clinic, located on the fourth floor of Kentucky Clinic, will be closed Monday through Thursday to in-person visits. The Twilight Clinic phone triage line is available Monday – Thursday, from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. For assistance, call 859-257-6730.

The clinic will maintain its regular hours for in-person visits Friday through Sunday:

• Friday, 5 – 9 p.m.

• Saturday, noon – 5 p.m.

• Sunday, noon – 5 p.m.
