Jamie Ward, Undergraduate Medical Education Coordinator for the Department of Surgery, was honored as one of the top five finalists in the 2018 University of Kentucky Outstanding Staff Awards (OSA) on Tuesday afternoon in a special ceremony at the Woodford Reserve Club in Kroger Field.

The UK Outstanding Staff Awards are sponsored by the UK Office of the President and the UK Staff Senate to recognize the professional accomplishments of staff across the university and the work of their colleges and units.

Jamie was selected as a finalist in one of the special categories, Outstanding Staff Award – Student Recognition, which meant that she was nominated by submissions of support from UK students to the Staff Senate. In addition to Ward, the four other finalists were Ellie Goodman, Office of Philanthropy; Rene Maldonado, College of Pharmacy; Matthew Southers, College of Pharmacy; and Floyd Taylor, College of Engineering.

Given that Ward works primarily with UK medical students during their Department of Surgery rotations, the nomination was particularly apt.

At the special awards program, University of Kentucky President Eli Capiluto  and Staff Senate Chair Jon Gent, among others, congratulated each finalist and expressed appreciation for their work on behalf of the University of Kentucky.
