The trauma and acute care surgery section of the UK Department of Surgery recently announced that Tim Horrell, MD is the recipient of the 2018 EAST Travel scholarship.

According to Dr. Cynthia Talley, Program Director for Surgery Critical Care, the scholarship, which is sponsored jointly by trauma-acute care surgery and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), is awarded to a resident in program year three of General Surgery.

The scholarship provides travel money to attend the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma [EAST ] Annual Scientific Assembly during their PGY4 year, Dr. Talley said. The honoree is also presented with the Advanced Trauma Operative Management  (ATOM) book.

In addition to his general surgery residency, Dr. Horrell also earned his undergraduate and medical degree from the University of Kentucky.
