The third annual Gordon Hyde Lectureship in Vascular Surgery on Wednesday morning, April 11, will feature noted vascular surgeon, John “Jeb” Hallett, MD, Clinical Professor of Surgery at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

The lecture will begin at 6:45 am in the MN263 Lecture Hall at UK Chandler Hospital. A breakfast reception will precede the lecture.

Dr. Hallett’s presentation, “What Does Curiosity have to do with Being a Surgeon?” addresses how attributes of Curiosity and Courage are key factors in managing burnout and aiding in the long term success and satisfaction of a surgeon’s career.

Objectives for the presentation include:

  • Highlight the history of curiosity and courage in advancing surgical care.
  • Focus on how “curiosity” adds to the career-long personal success and satisfaction.
  • Place surgical innovation in the context of expectations of the current transformation in healthcare.
