The UK College of Medicine Department of Surgery is excited to officially welcome Naureen Narula, MD, MBBS, and Brittany Wheelock, MD, to its faculty roster beginning in August 2023.

Dr. Narula will be a member of the faculty in the division of cardiothoracic surgery. She is double board-certified in internal medicine and pulmonary medicine. After completing her internal medicine and pulmonary critical care fellowship at Northwell Health in New York, Dr. Narula further specialized in lung and heart-lung transplant through a prestigious fellowship at Stanford University.

This additional training has equipped her with the skills and expertise necessary to provide exceptional care to patients requiring complex transplant procedures. She has a strong passion for research and academia. 

Dr. Brittany Wheelock has chosen to serve as an Instructor for the optional second year of her fellowship in trauma critical care surgery in the UK College of Medicine Department of Surgery. As such, she will join as a member of the acute care surgery division faculty.

Prior to her surgical fellowship at UK HealthCare, Dr. Wheelock completed a general surgery residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix integrated surgery residency program.

In addition to her clinical experience, Dr. Wheelock has pursued a wide range of research interests stemming from her academic pursuits in medicine and psychology.
