Dr. Daniel Kenady was recognized for 36 years of service as a faculty member with the UK Department of Surgery with a reception held in his honor at the Lexington Country Club on Sunday evening, August 28.

The Division of General Surgery hosted the event which celebrated Dr. Kenady’s lengthy career as a clinician and mentor in surgical oncology.  Chief of the Division of General Surgery  and a colleague on the surgical oncology team at UK, Dr. Patrick McGrath offered congratulations to Dr. Kenady upon his retirement and expressed his gratitude for the decades of work and collaboration they have shared.

Dr. Kenady’s dedication and influence upon the many Surgery Residents under his tutelage was evidenced by the number attending the event in his honor.  Many more sent their congratulations and best wishes. McGrath noted Dr. Kenady’s role in the fight against cancer that extends well beyond the confines of the University. He has served on numerous professional medical associations, including an extensive association with the American Cancer Society at both the local and national levels and dedicated service with the Kentucky Cancer Consortium. Dr. Kenady is also dedicated to serving others as evidenced by his years of mission work, providing surgical services and resident training to surgery residents at Tenweck Hospital in Kenya, Africa.

Though he is retiring from the University of Kentucky, Dr. Kenady plans to continue mission work and to maintain involvement with clinical practice and cancer treatment advocacy.
